Particularly improbable and ridiculous。 Plus, this is an author of more than 25 novels and she still hasn’t figured out who and whom。
Linda,
Remember this if you are married or thinking seriously about marriage, there are always secrets。 You should think about the secrets you decide to share and those you do not。 Such is part of the story of It's One of Us as you meet the married couple Olivia and Park Bender。 Their world is getting ready to explode and not in a good way。 After trying over and over through Fertility treatments and IVF to get pregnant and never successfully having a baby they are hit with the news that Park has a son。 Remember this if you are married or thinking seriously about marriage, there are always secrets。 You should think about the secrets you decide to share and those you do not。 Such is part of the story of It's One of Us as you meet the married couple Olivia and Park Bender。 Their world is getting ready to explode and not in a good way。 After trying over and over through Fertility treatments and IVF to get pregnant and never successfully having a baby they are hit with the news that Park has a son。 What? Wow! Great book。 I have to admit I did not like any of them, except the sister and the twin brother。 What a family! The story was very good and and I enjoyed every minute of it。 J。T。 Ellison is one of my favorite authors!!
Amanda Ross,
Very unique and explored a topic that I know very little about, in all honesty。 I can definitely see how it can be triggering for some and appreciated the author’s note at the end。 It was super personal。 I would have liked it if this was a tad bit shorter。 Some parts were drawn out and seemed unnecessary。 Although you basically find out who the suspect is almost immediately, it was still an intriguing story because all the characters had some sort of secret。 Pure chaos at the end!
Rosi,
Audiobook narrated by Julia Whelan。 Suspenseful and unputdownable。 All the characters have their quirks which made likeable/unlikable through the story。 Plot was compelling。 May be TRIGGERING。
Paulette,
Suspenseful, thrilling。 An excellent book that draws you in from page one and never lets up。 DNA, infertility clinics, deception and murder。 It is also an honest, heartfelt account of the author’s journey to have a baby。 Her story at the end of the book is a tribute to those who cannot have a child of their own。 The grief, the tears, the longing。
Yukari Watanabe,

This was a nice thriller with good pacing and a superb ending。 。。。more
Patty,
I loved the way this book was organized。 The various POVs were easy to keep sorted out。 I didn't love the ending because I thought it wasn't clear。 I think I understand how it ended, but I am not sure。 These characters seem to get unreasonably angry and hold powerful grudges。 The other issue I had was why Olivia could not get pregnant with Park。 If that was answered, I didn't catch it。 Clearly, he can father children。 I loved the way this book was organized。 The various POVs were easy to keep sorted out。 I didn't love the ending because I thought it wasn't clear。 I think I understand how it ended, but I am not sure。 These characters seem to get unreasonably angry and hold powerful grudges。 The other issue I had was why Olivia could not get pregnant with Park。 If that was answered, I didn't catch it。 Clearly, he can father children。 。。。more
Jennifer Guerrero,
This story started at a 5, went to a 3, and for the ending I bumped it up to 4 stars。 The plot takes off fast, you feel for Olivia and kinda think Park is a dope。 The biological kid thing was crazy and then the murderer (who is not really a surprise) is revealed to early。 This is where the storyline gets tedious。 I’m glad I didn’t DNF as there is a slight twist in the ending making up for the dullness。 I do think Park’s new relationship is cringe in the end…
Maryann Fox,
Sery slow beginning but it turns into a wow some developments are easily figured while others are not another good book by the author

Linda McCune,
I have mixed feelings about this book。 The book deals with infertility taken to the extreme。 The characters are unlivable and everyone seems to have something unsavory hidden in their past。 I didn’t like the serial killer theme woven into the plot。
Ranjini Shankar,
This gets three stars for being compulsively readable。 However the plot isn’t really all that original, you can guess the murderer within the first few chapters, and the characters really make a ton of strange and irrational decisions。 The story follows a couple, Park and Olivia, who are struggling with infertility。 Suddenly the police are at their doorstep telling them that a child of Park’s is a suspect in a murder which unravels a lifetime of secrets from both of them。 I felt like the charact This gets three stars for being compulsively readable。 However the plot isn’t really all that original, you can guess the murderer within the first few chapters, and the characters really make a ton of strange and irrational decisions。 The story follows a couple, Park and Olivia, who are struggling with infertility。 Suddenly the police are at their doorstep telling them that a child of Park’s is a suspect in a murder which unravels a lifetime of secrets from both of them。 I felt like the character development needed a lot of work。 Park goes from being obsessed with Olivia (for a lifetime) to suddenly jumping ship with no real reason。 Darla who is shown to be a conscientious mom had no idea of what was going on in her kids lives。 The murderer is obsessed with Olivia but we are given no real motive for why。 It just left a lot to be desired。 。。。more

Dig The Plot,
This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2023。 It did not live up to what I thought it was going to be。 I didn’t like any of the characters at all。 I couldn’t even like Olivia。 The story just didn’t seem real。 I felt like it could have been much more realistic but came off far fetched to me。 28 kids just seemed excessive when all we cared about was two of them。 With each crime the murderer committed Darby (his mother) acted shocked but he did all these things when he was younger…。he stole, h This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2023。 It did not live up to what I thought it was going to be。 I didn’t like any of the characters at all。 I couldn’t even like Olivia。 The story just didn’t seem real。 I felt like it could have been much more realistic but came off far fetched to me。 28 kids just seemed excessive when all we cared about was two of them。 With each crime the murderer committed Darby (his mother) acted shocked but he did all these things when he was younger…。he stole, he attacked a young woman, he was violent。 So can you really be shocked and hold out hope when the crimes and photo of your son matches to the tee? I wanted to slap these people。 And it was way too long。 I didn’t think it would end。 And of course when it did it was everything you would predict。 And I’m going to honest and not to ruin it for you but when they mention that Perry was Park’s twin…。。I just knew that was going to play into this。 But nope。 So don’t think it。 。。。more

With no desire to breed, I wasn't sure how I would like this book when I first started, but the story sucked me in。 An interesting read that kept my interest when I've had trouble finding books I want to finish lately, I enjoyed this despite a few needless injections of COVID and pronoun stuff。 Could have done without the comments on how everyone has this deep primal and uncontrollable need to reproduce, too。 With no desire to breed, I wasn't sure how I would like this book when I first started, but the story sucked me in。 An interesting read that kept my interest when I've had trouble finding books I want to finish lately, I enjoyed this despite a few needless injections of COVID and pronoun stuff。 Could have done without the comments on how everyone has this deep primal and uncontrollable need to reproduce, too。 。。。more

Kiinnostava, vähän erilainen trilleri。 Ihan liikaa hahmoja ja eri näkökulmia, tarinan seuraaminen oli siksi välillä tosi hankalaa ja osa tapahtumista meni täysin ohi。

I've read several of JT Ellison's books and really enjoyed them。 Unfortunately, this book was a total miss for me。 I understand that it was a personal book for the author, as she has experienced infertility firsthand and I love a good psychological thriller with family/relationship drama, but I struggled to find anything redeemable。 It's a good premise and other authors have used DNA as a primary plot point, but there were way too many inconsistencies for me。Olivia and Park are married high scho I've read several of JT Ellison's books and really enjoyed them。 Unfortunately, this book was a total miss for me。 I understand that it was a personal book for the author, as she has experienced infertility firsthand and I love a good psychological thriller with family/relationship drama, but I struggled to find anything redeemable。 It's a good premise and other authors have used DNA as a primary plot point, but there were way too many inconsistencies for me。Olivia and Park are married high school sweethearts that struggle with infertility。 They are both awful people who should never have kids, especially Olivia。 Olivis is an angry woman, who is also impatient and vindictive when things don't go her way。。。 I can only imagine this woman with children。 The Bender siblings are just a hot mess。 I had a hard time with this one because I felt like it was more about infertility, pregnancy, babies and motherhood than about the murders。 In fact, we know how the murderer is halfway through the book (a pet peeve of mine since I like to keep guessing until the end)。 There was too much ridiculous, over-the-top shit in this book for me and I hated the ending。 I'm giving it 2 stars because I actually finished the whole thing, otherwise it would probably be a 1 star。 。。。more

I would not call this a thriller。 It’s more of a suspenseful domestic family drama。 I felt like most of it you really have to suspend belief。 You are told you the murderer is right off the bat which I hate personally in a thriller。 Then came a sort of twist at the end-//which was just okay and the ending came together too quickly and lacked some of the tension/dread that I was expecting。 There were also a couple of plot lines not tied up, in my opinion。 Audio book read by Julia Whelan- perfection 。。。more
